Aubrey (Mitch's cousin) took Thursday off from work so that she could show us around Manhattan. By this time, Mitch and I were both exhausted from traveling and sightseeing. We just felt like we were going all the time and that we had to squeeze as much in as we could. Somehow doing things with Aubrey made us slow down a bit.
We started Thursday with a visit to the United Nations. Mitch loved the UN in Switzerland so I thought he'd like this one.
Our tour there was really interesting. We learned more about what the UN actually does and saw a lot of the gifts that different countries have given to the UN.
After the UN, we went up to 5th Avenue. We saw all the usual stuff--Rockefellar Plaza and all the shops. Plus, Aubrey knew some fun random things to show us like the NBA store.
The only problem was that it rained the whole afternoon. Actually it poured most of the time.
After we'd looked at most of this area, we made a stop at Verizon to get Mitch a replacement phone (his all of a sudden died that morning) and at Dylan's Candy Bar. Then we made our way over to the line for the Wicked lottery. They always give out 13 pairs of tickets lottery style. Normally I guess there are like 50 or 60 people there-- when we went, there were like... 400 or something. Maybe more. We don't know. We didn't get tickets. Lame. We decided we'll go sometime in LA instead.
After losing, we went to Times Square and looked around (in the pouring rain) but by then we were all tired so we decided to call it quits and head home.
We did end up going back to Times Square on Saturday (when it wasn't raining). Here's a Times Square picture from then.
